Truman State University offers the use of Proctorio as our automated online/remote test proctoring service.
WHAT IS A PROCTORED EXAM?
A proctored exam is an exam that is supervised by a person or service that ensures the identity of the test taker and the integrity of the test taking environment. Proctored testing can occur in an on-ground classroom with your instructor, with a online/remote test proctoring services, like Proctorio, or at a physical testing facility on-campus or off-campus.
WHAT IS PROCTORIO?
Proctorio allows students with a webcam and a broadband internet connection to complete their exams while on camera; the service does not use live proctors but instead uses an automated algorithm to report on any exam session irregularities.
WHAT DO STUDENTS NEED TO KNOW?
There is no charge to take an exam that utilizes Proctorio at Truman. You will need a stable Internet connection, a webcam, a valid ID, and a room that is private and secure in which to take your test. You will also need to install a browser plug-in to enable the proctored testing process.

WHAT DO FACULTY NEED TO DO?
Faculty will need to set-up the Secure Exam Tool in Brightspace, install the browser plug-in, and enable Proctorio on the desired quiz. It is highly recommended to discuss your use of Proctorio with your students well in advance of the first quiz and to help them prepare through the use of a non-graded/low-stakes practice quiz with Proctorio enabled.
