How do I use the blue/green screen?
The color of clothing you are wearing can have an impact on the function of the blue/green screen. If you are wearing green, use the blue screen effect for better separation. If you are wearing blue, use the green screen effect for better separation.
To use the blue/green screen, please toggle the switch on the black box (see image in question below) mounted on the left side of the podium beneath the ASUS computer monitor.
I turned the blue/green screen on but its not showing up on the sheet?
The green and blue screen will not show up on the hanging sheet, it will only show up on the ASUS computer monitor.
What format will my video recording save as?
One Button Studio will compress and save your recordings in MP4 which can later be edited in video editing software or uploaded to YouTube, Kaltura, Facebook, etc.
How do I convert my video recording to be able to upload it to various websites?
The MultiMedia Lab contains software for video editing on both their Windows and Mac desktops. Corel Videostudio is available on Windows, iMovie is available on Mac. Tutorials can be found online or on the MML web page located here.
The wireless presentation clicker is not working.
Make sure the clicker is powered on and the USB receiver is firmly plugged in to the USB port on the left-side computer’s keyboard. Also, make sure there is nothing blocking the communication between the clicker and the USB receiver.
If the clicker is still not working, please contact the PML 204 front desk for assistance.
How do I properly frame what I am wanting to record?
The camcorder has been pre-adjusted to accommodate most individuals. If the camcorder is not framed to allow you to see yourself and/or your presentation adequately see the PML 204 front desk for assistance.
Where do I stand?
On the floor of the One Button Studio, grey tape outlines a box in which you should stand. If you are working with a presentation, a grey X is located within the box indicating where you should stand approximately. It is recommended to practice where you will stand before you begin recording.
USB
I plugged in the USB flash drive and received the error message “USB drive not formatted correctly”.
Try using an appropriately formatted USB flash drive. USB flash drives must be formatted to FAT32 in order to be used with the One Button Studio. Other formats will not work.
How to format a USB flash drive
I plugged in the USB flash drive and received the error message “not enough space on the USB drive”.
Make more space on the USB flash drive or use a larger USB flash drive. This error will appear when there is less than 500GB of free space available on the USB flash drive. Users of the One Button Studio should bring a USB flash drive that has at least 1GB of available free space (1GB of space will accommodate approximately 30 minutes of recording time).
Nothing happens when the USB flash drive is plugged in.
Ensure the USB flash drive isn’t defective by testing it on the presentation computer. If the USB flash drive fails to mount on the presentation computer, please contact the PML 204 front desk for assistance.
It’s not required, but bringing a secondary USB flash drive to use as a backup can be helpful.
There is no video on the USB flash drive.
The USB flash drive was removed too early. Wait for the computer prompt before you remove the USB drive.
How do I format my USB flash drive?
WARNING: Formatting the USB flash drive will erase all content on the device.
MAC OS:
- Connect the USB flash drive to a computer.
- Open Disk Utility.
- Click to select the USB storage device in the left panel.
- Click to change to the Erase tab.
- Provide a name for the USB device.
- In the Format drop-down selection box, select “MS-DOS (FAT)“.
- In the Scheme drop-down selection box, select “GUID Partition Map“.
- Click “Erase“.
- Close the Disk Utility window.
WINDOWS:
- Connect the USB flash drive to a computer.
- Open Windows File Explorer.
- In the File Explorer window, right-click on the drive icon in which the USB device appears.
- From the menu, click “Format“.
- In the “FORMAT device name (drive letter)” window, under “File System“, click the drop-down arrow and select FAT32 and then click the start button.
- At the “WARNING…” message, click “OK” to continue.
- At the “Format Complete” message, click “OK“.
- Click the “Close” button to close the “FORMAT device name (drive letter)” window.
- Close Windows File Explorer.
Button
Nothing happens when the button is pressed.
Make sure you are pressing the button firmly instead of lightly tapping it. If the blue button light is on, press the button and hold it down for a slightly longer amount of time.

Lights
The lights didn’t turn on or off.
Please go to the PML 204 front desk and request assistance.
Camera
The camera is not turned on.
The camera will automatically turn on. If the camera does not turn on please see the PML 204 front desk for assistance.
The camera is out of focus.
The camera should be set to auto-focus, but if not, please go to the PML 204 front desk and request assistance.
There is a slight delay on the video during recording.
While recording, the video will appear on the recording monitor. There may be a slight delay between what you are doing in front of the camera and what is displayed on the recording monitor. This delay will not appear on the final recording.
Microphone
I’m playing the video, but there is no audio.
Make sure the volume on the computer is turned up by pressing the F12 key to turn the volume all the way up. You should hear a chirp sound and see the volume adjuster indicator appear on the screen.
The sound is not in sync with the audio.
Playback directly from the presentation desktop on the right. Sound issues may result from the USB flash drives being too slow. Copy the recorded .mp4 file from the USB flash drive to the desktop and then open the file to play.
If the sound issue is not resolved, please go to the PML 204 front desk and request assistance.

Projector
How do I turn on the projector?
Stand in the middle of the room and point the projector remote towards the projector and press the grey and green power button.
How do I turn off the projector?
Stand in the middle of the room and point the projector remote towards the projector and press the rectangular OFF button located next to the ON button, you will then be prompted to confirm that you want to power the projector off.
Can I use the projector while recording my video?
Yes, to use the projector while you are recording you should turn the projector on before you begin the recording.
How do I use the projector?
To use the projector you will need to use your Truman login information to login in on the Mac computer located on the right hand side of the podium. Once logged in you may either pull up a PowerPoint presentation or an image you would like displayed throughout your recording.
Frequently Asked Questions
My video did not save to the USB drive or my files were accidentally deleted. Can I retrieve them?
Copies of the videos that were recorded using One Button Studio are not saved to the local computer hard drive. If your video does not save to the USB flash drive, please record your video again.
Can I edit my video in the One Button Studio room?
No, you can only record videos in the One Button Studio room. If you need editing services, you may use the MultiMedia Lab machines on the first floor of the library.

What do I need to bring with me to the One Button Studio?
You MUST bring a USB flash drive (1GB minimum, FAT32 formatted). For instructions on how to format your USB flash drive, please click here.
How long can I reserve the One Button Studio for?
A maximum of 90 minutes can be reserved each session.
Can I use the One Button Studio on a walk-in basis without making a reservation?
Reservations for the One Button Studio are preferred, but walk-ins are welcome to use the One Button Studio on a first-come, first-serve basis if no one else has previously scheduled the studio. To guarantee a time to use the One Button Studio, please make a reservation.
My reservation time has begun, but the studio is still occupied. What should I do?
Please go to the PML 204 front desk and request assistance.
What should I wear?
Do not wear clothes with tight pattern’s, it will look as if they are moving on screen. Solid earthy tones work well. Bright fluorescent colors do not.
General Policies
Users are expected to respect the rights of others, the integrity of the One Button Studio resources, and abide by all of the rules and guidelines put forth in this and any related document.
- Currently, use of the One Button Studio is restricted to TSU faculty, staff, and student usage.
- Daily reservations can only be a maximum of 90 minutes.
- Please do not touch/adjust any of the equipment. If you feel adjusting is necessary, please ask for assistance.
- Upon arrival and exit, please check in at PML 204 front desk.
- No food or drink is allowed in the One Button Studio.
- Groups are welcome to work on projects together, but due to room size, MML asks that groups are limited to no more than 2-3 people.
- MML is not responsible for personal items left behind.
- MML is not responsible for damage to a user’s personal items.
- Be respectful to the person coming in to use the One Button Studio by not exceeding your reservation time without permission.
- Respond to emergency alarms and other situations as instructed by MML staff.
- MML reserves the right to halt, delete, or disallow the creation of projects that violate the Truman State acceptable computer use policy.
- Keep noise to a minimum, including conversations in the waiting area outside the One Button Studio.
- Users are expected to leave the room as they found it when they arrived (i.e. location of remote controls, presentation monitor, podium, etc.)
- Reservations may be forfeited if the room has not been occupied 15 minutes into the scheduled time.
- In the rare case of scheduling conflicts or simultaneous walk-ins, PML reserves the right to make the final decision on room use.
- If any item in the One Button Studio is found to be in a permanently unusable or damaged condition due to user’s direct or intentional actions after the user has finished using the One Button Studio, the user will be subject to a charge that includes the price of replacing said item(s).
- If any item in the One Button Studio goes missing or is stolen during the period when a user is using the One Button Studio, the user will be subject to a charge that includes the price of replacing said item(s).
