Blackboard Upgrade
The Blackboard Learn course management system is scheduled for upgrade during Winter Break. It will be upgraded to the latest stable, production tested service pack: Blackboard 9.1 Q2 (second quarter) 2017. This update includes updates to the application software and a needed disk storage expansion.
The following Blackboard enhancements are included in the application upgrade:
- Drag & Drop File Attachments: Files can be added to Items and Assignments by dragging files from your computer to the “Attach Files” area.
- Assignment Submission Receipts: When students submit Assignments successfully, the submission page will display a banner with a confirmation number. Submission receipts are also viewable in My Grades. Faculty will find Assignment submission confirmation receipts in the Grade Center under Reports, Submission Receipts.
- Assignment Reminders: Faculty will be able to send system-generated email reminders for missing coursework in the Grade Center to students who have not submitted work.
- The inline grading and annotation tool used when grading assignments will change. Blackboard’s current tool, Crocodoc, was purchased by a company named Box, Inc. They are replacing Crocodoc with their new tool. The new tool will be called the “New Box View” service. Many of the Box annotation buttons remain hidden until a block of text in the assignment is selected. The free-hand drawing and strike through tools will not be available in this version of the New Box View. For more information about this transition is available on this Blackboard Help page: https://help.blackboard.com/Learn/Instructor/Assignments/Grade_Assignments/Crocodoc_to_New_Box_View
